Sapna Gill, the social media influencer, accused of allegedly attacking cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s car along with 7 other people, received bail from a Mumbai court along with three of the accused. A total of 8 people were booked by Oshiwara Police for attacking Shaw and his friend’s cars with a baseball bat on the complaint filed by the friend Ashish Surendra Yadav.
After the event in Mumbai, Oshiwara Police detained 8 persons, including Sapna, for violating various provisions of the Indian Criminal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506). In his complaint, Yadav said that a gang of individuals had used baseball bats to attack his and Prithvi Shaw’s cars and had caused some damage.
This was allegedly done after Shaw, who had previously complied with their demands for selfies while dining with his friends in a five-star hotel in Mumbai’s Santa Cruz neighborhood, declined to do so. The group allegedly followed them to an Oshiwara gas station and demanded payment in exchange for not filing fictitious cases, according to the complaint.
The incident happened when the anonymous suspect arrived and insisted on taking a selfie after Prithvi Shaw had left for supper at a five-star hotel in Santacruz. Shaw obliged two requests for selfies, but the same group afterward asked for one with the other defendant.
Shaw said he had come to eat with friends and didn’t want to be bothered this time, so he declined. The lawsuit claims that after they insisted, Prithvi’s friend complained about them to the hotel manager. The accused was asked to leave the hotel by the manager.
After dinner, other individuals were waiting outside with baseball bats since this incident had incensed them as Shaw and his friend departed the hotel. The accused used baseball bats to damage the front and rear windows of the BMW that belonged to Prithvi’s friend.
Sapna Gill’s Lawyer Calls The Charges And Claims Filed Against Her Baseless
Earlier in the day, the court sent Gill, her friend Shobhit Thakur and two others, Rudra Solanki and Sahil Singh Singh, to 14-day judicial custody. Subsequently, they filed bail applications before the court.
Metropolitan magistrate, Andheri court, C P Kashid, after hearing brief arguments, granted bail to all the accused, who were arrested last week.
Sapna Gill, in her application filed through advocate Kaashif Ali Khan, claimed the FIR against her has been registered on “completely false and bogus allegations”.
“The statements in the FIR are fabricated, concocted and without any basis and the applicant (Gill) is being falsely implicated in the above case,” the bail plea said.
Police resisted the bail requests, claiming that the investigation into the case has not yet been concluded, as indicated by public prosecutor Atia Sheikh. Shaw declined to take a selfie with the suspects, Sheikh claimed, so they hunted him to exact “revenge.” The 23-year-old player could have even been “killed,” according to the prosecutor.
