Former Australian speedster Brett Lee was full of praise for Australian hard-hitting all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for his explosive knocks against Punjab Kings on Friday. The 33-year-old was at his absolute best with the bat scoring 72 runs off just 40 balls to help his side post the second-highest total in IPL history.

KL-Rahul-led LSG came into the contest after a heartbreaking loss against the defending champions Gujarat Titans failing to chase down 30 runs in the final six overs falling short by seven runs at the end of 20 overs.

Asked to bat first, LSG batters were at their absolute best, as they took on Punjab Kings bowlers to boundaries at ease throughout the innings, which resulted in a score of 257-5 at the 20-overs mark. Speaking on Jiocinema, Brett Lee lauded Stoinis as the captaincy material and hailed him as a great cricketing brain who can contribute to the team’s success with both bat and ball.

“He is a captain in the making. He has got a great cricket brain. Look how relaxed he is around the team. He is a freak, that is the best way to describe him. He performs with the bat and the ball, and his throwing arm is very powerful,” Brett Lee said.

The Australian all-rounder registered his highest score in IPL history against Punjab Kings. In the 2nd innings, Marcus Stoinis picked up the important wicket of Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan in the very first over to put Punjab Kings straight away on the back foot in chase of a mammoth total in Mohali.

Marcus Stoinis Is A Complete Package And Tonight He Showed His Class – Brett Lee

Brett Lee thinks that Marcus Stoinis is a complete package in a game, as he can contribute with a bat, ball, and in the field for the Lucknow Super Giants, and said that Stoinis enjoyed the good wicket in Mohali rather than playing in the slow wickets of their home ground.

“He also takes good catches. He is a complete package. But tonight, he showed his class. This was a time when the team went from a low, slow, and hard wicket at home to a wicket where the ball was coming nicely on the bat. So, he cashed in tonight,”  Brett Lee added.

Lucknow Super Giants will quickly return to Ekana Stadium for their clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1. In the previous encounter against the RCB side, LSG clinched the victory in the last ball of the game in the famous Chinnaswamy Stadium.
