Javier Hernandez Reveals His Pick For Ballon d'Or And He Is Not Cristiano Ronaldo 1

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo might have enjoyed a phenomenal season but his former Real teammate and Bayern Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez has snubbed the Portugal international for the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

After playing an integral role in helping the Los Blancos win the La Liga for the first time since the 2011-12 season, Ronaldo scored a brilliant brace to inspire Real Madrid to a thumping 4-1 win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff last Saturday(June 3) as the Spanish giants became the first-ever team to defend the title.

The brace not only helped him to score his 600th career goal but also saw him overtaking Barcelona star Lionel Messi to become the top scorer of the recently-concluded season. Ronaldo finished the tournament on 12 goals, one clear of Messi whose team lost to Juventus in the semifinal. Ronaldo began the Champions League on an unusual note, scoring only two goals till the last 16 stage and was nine adrift of Messi going into the quarter-finals.

However, the Portugal skipper hit the top gear just when it mattered the most as Real Madrid blew away all the opposition to claim a record 12th Champions League title. Ronaldo scored five against Bayern Munich in the quater-final, a hattrick against city rival Atletico Madrid before the brace against Juve. Before his heroics in Cardiff, Ronaldo had starred in the La Liga too, scoring a staggering 25 goals to help the Madrid-based outfit end their Liga drought.

Ronaldo’s sensational performances have more or less have convinced almost everyone that he is destined for the fifth Ballon d’Or of his career.

However, his former teammate Javier Hernandez, it seems, is not impressed by his exploits. The Mexico international, who had spent the 2014–15 season on loan to Real Madrid, feels Ronaldo’s teammate Luca Modric should win the coveted award.

Shortly after Real won the Champions League, ‘Chicharito’ took to Twitter to reveal his pick for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

“Ballon d’Or for Modric please!” Hernandez wrote.

Modric has undoubtedly played a huge role in Real’s brilliant season but it is highly unlikely that the Croatia international would pip Ronaldo for his maiden Ballon d’Or.
