John Cena Reveals How The Rock Changed The Game For WWE Wrestlers
WWE wrestlers are more than just in-ring performs starting from the 2000s. They have justified the name of being sports entertainers by all means as some of them are all over the media including movies, red carpets, interviews, and many more such outlets.
The franchise player John Cena is one of them who has been continuing his Hollywood stint after leaving TV appearances on behalf of WWE for the past few years.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, John Cena mentioned none other than The Rock as the true pioneer when it comes to changing the game for WWE wrestlers who wished to make it big even outside the company. The Brahma Bull was the first person to break out in the movies featuring in the likes of The Mummy, Scorpion King and more. Later he went on to become the biggest box office attraction in Hollywood.
The Cenation Leader reminded the same while making the media round to help promote his film, Dolittle, which released this past Friday. John Cena said that The Rock set a leadership by example. He set a path to his fellow wrestlers so that can have the belief to become successful even outside the world of wrestling. This is why he will always be remembered as a pioneer figure in the WWE.
“It definitely has changed, and I think that rests on the already broad shoulders of Dwayne Johnson,” Cena said. “He just made it acceptable to be something other than your wrestling persona. If you look at the correlation of wrestlers or WWE personalities in movies, they essentially played extensions of their WWE personality. I think Dwayne was one of the first ones to break that mold, and do it on such a grand scale that he couldn’t be ignored.” (wrestingINC.com)
John Cena concluded the interview praising how The Rock finds an interesting role instead of portraying the same character, over and over again. Cena himself has several films in the pipeline named Project X-Traction, Fast & Furious 9, and The Suicide Squad. He might be seen next on TV on the night of WrestleMania 36 which emanates from his hometown of Tampa, Florida on April 5th.
