Juan Mata Provides Injury Update Ahead Of Europa League Tie 1

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has expressed his disappointment of missing the action over the past few weeks due to groin injury.

The 28-year old has not featured for the Red Devils since their win over Middlesborough last month but has expressed his delight over Manchester United’s 3-0 away win over Sunderland in the weekend.

The result proved important for the club as they look to continue to ensure to finish in top four by the end of the season which could see them get back to Champions League next season. The Red Devils will need to play at their absolute best in a tightly scheduled April to ensure that they remain in contention for their goals at the end of April.

The 28-year old could be ruled out for the reminder of the season after undergoing surgery for his groin problem, has revealed his frustration after the weekend action.

“When you’re injured you feel like time goes by very slow,” Mata said.

“That’s the truth.

“And my week seemed longer than usual.

“But luckily it ended with a nice feeling – watching the team’s convincing victory against Sunderland.

“I hope that things keep going well and I can be back soon to enjoy what I like so much – training and playing football.”

He has also insisted that the club will fight until the end of the season to ensure that they finish in the top four to ensure Champions League football after their impressive 3-0 win. However, the Red Devils will host eague leaders Chelsea next weekend which could prove decisive in their campaign.

However, they also have another massive fixture in Europa League mid week as they travel to Belgium to face Anderlecht in a tricky visit as the club eye semifinal places.

“We will fight until the end to be in the top four, and in order to do so we need mainly to get better at Old Trafford, at home. We have an opportunity the next weekend against the leaders Chelsea. It’s one of those games that everybody wants to play.

“Before that, though, we have to make the first step towards the Europa League semifinals and try to get closer to win this competition.”

Manchester United need to keep on winning as both Chelsea and Tottenham looks more than likely to qualify for Champions league football next season. It would be down to big four to compete for the remaining two spots and the Red Devils need to put in an extra shift as they are still competing in Europa League.
