India middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav is quite pleased with his form in the series against West Indies. On Sunday he played another sparkling knock of 31-ball 65. He was chosen for the ‘Player Of The Match’ award and he also received the ‘Player of The Series’ award for his contributions in the first and third matches.
On Sunday India posted a total of 184/5 in 20 overs. Despite a slow start from the top order, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer turned things around in the final 5 overs as the duo added 86 runs in that phase which is a record for India in the history of T20I cricket.

Suryakumar Yadav has been chosen ‘Player of the Series’
Speaking in the post-match presentation, Suryakumar Yadav said that he just wanted to replicate his innings in the first match. In the first, he scored an unbeaten 34 runs off 18 balls and took India from a tricky situation.
“Just wanted to replicate what I did in the first game. Needed someone to stay there after Rohit got out and get the team to a defendable total. We had a long chat in the team meeting as to how we are going to react under immense pressure and it came out very well,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
“I just try to keep things simple. Being a little harsh on yourself in the nets, don’t hit every ball wildly and have some quality sessions. Excited for the next series,” he added.
In his short career, Suryakumar had already made a mark as he scored 4 fifties in the 12 T20I innings. Also, he scored two fifties in 7 ODI innings as well. But more importantly, he is scoring all these runs with a brisk pace. His strike rate in T20Is is 165.56 while in ODIs it is 103.08.
He made his international debut last year in March and within a year he has become an integral part of the T20 side.
India’s next white-ball assignment will 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The first T20I will be played in Lucknow on February 24, followed by two back-to-back games in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.
