Kingsley Coman Out For Several Weeks 1

Kingsley Coman is set to be in the sidelines for several weeks as he suffered a ligament tear to the same ankle that required surgery few months ago.

Coman suffered a ligament tear in the same ankle that required surgery before.

The French winger was on end of a late challenge from Hoffenheim defender Nico Schulz late in the first half. Despite winning the match 3-1, Coman’s injury at the end was a huge blow for the Bundesliga champions.

Just after he suffered the injury, he felt to the ground crying. The team-mates came to confront him and the medical staff had to take him off the pitch. The 22-year was barely able to move his left foot.

Bayern Munich boss Nico Kovac said in the post match conference:
“It doesn’t look good for now. He is in severe pain. He will have tests tonight. I hope it’s not serious but we are fearing the worst.”

Meanwhile, the club have already confirmed that that the diagnosis is a syndesmosis ligament tear in his left ankle and it will likely require another surgery.

The youngster also suffered the same kind of injury few months ago. It kept him out for three months and as a result, he was left out of France’s World Cup squad.

However, despite playing only 21 Bundesliga games and starting only 10 games, he was still a popular name in the transfer market. English club Arsenal showed interest in him. But the club couldn’t agree to the amount what Bayern wanted.

Coman’s replacement Arjen Robben scored in the 90th minute to seal Bayern’s 3-1 victory. He found the  back of the net earlier in the second half after following up a saved Robert Lewandowski penalty. But the goal was ruled out due to an infraction on the penalty. Lewandowski would score on the retry attempt.

The Bundesliga champions will face Stuttgart on 1st September in their next game.
