Liverpool are looking to sign Real Madrid ace Toni Kroos in the upcoming summer transfer window. The German midfielder has just 18 months left on his contract at Santiago Bernabeu and given the history with current departures, Real Madrid are unlikely to extend his contract.
The 32-year-old advanced playmaker has shifted his role to box-to-box midfielder, similar to Jordan Henderson has at Liverpool. The Reds in the market for a new midfielder after failing to replace Georginio Wijnaldum who left Anfield on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain last summer. The veteran English midfielder James Milner is also set to leave this summer so signing a new midfielder is a high priority for the Reds.
Toni Kroos has been a key part of Real Madrid midfield along with Luka Modric and Casemiro for the last few years. Kroos has been a great success at Los Blancos since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2014 and has scored 25 goals and provided 83 assists in 340 appearances so far. This season he has scored 3 goals and assisted 3 more in 20 appearances. But Real Madrid fans might be witnessing the last of both Kroos and Modric’s magic at Santiago Bernabeu.
Liverpool Ready To Offer A Three Year Contract To Toni Kroos:
Merseyside giants were interested in signing Kroos in 2014 but Real Madrid won the signature for the World Cup winner. But now things are different, Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world and a little ahead of Real Madrid in terms of quality. So pursuing any big-name player is not a problem for them anymore.
According to a report from El Nacional, Liverpool are looking to make a transfer offer of £25 million in the summer when the player will be in his last year of the contract. The report also suggests that they are ready to offer a three-year contract to former Bayern star which will be a tempting offer for any player at the age of 32. Manager Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the German international and will be looking to bring in some native-language players at Anfield.
Liverpool are sitting in 3rd position in the Premier League table with 42 points from the opening 20 fixtures. They are 11 points behind leaders Manchester City with an extra game in hand. The title race is still on but Citizens are unlikely to drop any points in the remainder of the season. Liverpool are certain to finish this season in top-four but winning any silverware will be a big boost for them to attract big-name players like Toni Kroos.
But Toni Kroos’ agent Volker Strooth has suggested that his client is very happy and looking to end his career at Real Madrid.
