Real Madrid midfielders Luca Modric and Federico Valverde have been linked with a Premier League move this month but now it has been reported that both players will be staying at Santiago Bernabeu. Manchester United are chasing Valverde for the last two transfer windows and now have a big offer rejected by Real Madrid this month. Manchester City are interested in signing Luca Modric on a free transfer but the Croatian veteran has looking to end his career at Real Madrid.
Manchester United are in the market for two new central midfielders as Ralf Rangnick has not impressed with current options since his arrival at Old Trafford last month. Scott McTominay and Fred, who former midfield partnership during previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s era, continue to start under Rangnick as well. Nemanja Matic is a third-choice central midfielder recently due to the long-term injury to Paul Pogba. But the Frenchman was present at the club’s lastest training session and is expected to return to the pitch next week.
But the 28-year-old former Juventus star has just six months remaining on his Manchester United contract and the player is not in favor to extend his stay beyond summer. Manchester United are also aware of Pogba’s situation and looking out for his replacements this month. If Manchester United finish in the top-four position this season and Pogba extends his contract then United are focusing on signing only one holding midfielder.
Real Madrid Label Manchester United Target Federico Valverde ‘Non-Transferable’:
Red Devils are linked with Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Declan Rice but no official contact has been made so far. Denis Zakaria is also strongly linked with Manchester United move this month who will be a free agent in the summer. But Rangnick’s side are facing a lot of competition for the Borussia Monchengladbach star so they have turned their attention to Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
Valverde has been at Real Madrid for the last five years but has never been a first-team regular due to the current midfield trio of Casemiro, Modric, and Toni Kroos. Los Blancos also signed highly-rated French international Eduardo Camavinga last summer which restricted Valverde’s appearances but Carlo Ancelotti has been opting for Valverde in his first eleven and shaping him and Camavinga for the future roles.
According to a report from El Nacional, Real Madrid have rejected Manchester United’s £50 million offer for the player and will not be entertaining further offers. They have informed the Red Devils that the player is ‘not-transferable’ at any cost. The 23-year-old Uruguayan international signed a new contract with Real Madrid last summer which ends in 2027. Valverde scored his first goal of the season last week which came as an extra-time winner against Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana’s semi-finals fixture.
