Manchester United are strongly linked with C full-back Tariq Lamptey who is available for £40 million. Red Devils are looking to replace regular right-back Aaron Wan Bissaka with a former Chelsea youngster. Ralf Rangnick has decided to strengthen two positions ahead of the next season, right-back and defensive midfielder.
The 21-year-old English right-back arrived at Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020 and has been excellent since then. His ability to go forward and provide cover to attacking-minded wingers has caught the attention of many. He is equally capable of defending counter-attacks with his blistering pace. Lamptey was out injured at the start of this season but now has returned and has made 12 league appearances so far with an assist to his name. Brighton are playing above the expectations level this season as they sit in 9th position in the Premier League table with 27 points, just 4 behind 7th placed Manchester United.
Brighton are looking to hold on to Tariq Lamptey this month as they fancy finishing in the top ten this season and Lamptey will be one of the key players to help Graham Potter achieve that. Star midfielder Yves Bissouma is also linked with a possible summer exit and Brighton are ready to offload their two key players in the summer.
Manchester United To Solve Right-Back Problems with Tariq Lamptey?
Aaron Wan-Bisska arrived at Old Trafford with a hefty price tag of £54 million from eh Crystal Palace in 2019. But the 24-year-old English full-back has failed to live up to the expectations of the Red Devils’ fans. Right-back is one of the weakest positions for Manchester United and new manager Ralf Rangnick is ready to make big changes next season.
Rangnick has shown more faith in Diogo Dalot ahead of Wan-Bissaka but this is just a temporary solution from the German. Manchester United management doubts Wan-Bissaka’s attacking qualities and Dalot’s defensive strengths. They are looking for someone who can contribute to both attack and defence and according to a report from the Daily Mail, they have identified Tariq Lamptey as a perfect solution.
Manchester United value Lamptey at around £30 million but Brighton are firm on their £40 million valuation. Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is also keeping a tab on Lamptey as he is not satisfied with Emerson and Doherty on the right-back position. Red Devils are also looking to solidify the midfield with a new holding midfielder this month and are linked with Ruben Neves and Denis Zakaria lately.
