Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is struggling to make a move away from Old Trafford due to a dispute over his wages, according to reports.

The 31-year old had fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho last season as he was merely used as an impact substitute for most of the important games. He has been linked with a move back to his former club Everton this summer.

However, the interest from the Merseyside club looks to have cooled down in the recent days. Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is keen to make a move for Davy Klaassen in attacking midfield and targeting Swansea City play maker Gylfi Sigurdsson instead of signing Wayne Rooney.

The English international is currently having a hard time with his club as he is still looking to find a new club to make a move. Rooney is earning a staggering £300,000 a week with Manchester United and according to Daily Mirror, he is looking for a club that could match that wages.

Meanwhile, Red Devils are not keen to pay major chunk of those wages or terminate his contract early to let him leave the club as they are looking for potential suitors to offload him.

Wayne Rooney was also linked with a move to Chinese Super League but the English international is yet to make a decision over his move to Far East. He is currently enduring a tough phase in his career and is not even closer to make an exit from Old Trafford at the moment.

The all time greatest scorer for Manchester United, will need to find a new club before the deadline day as he might be dropped from the squad next season with Mourinho lining up numerous top class signings for the club.

Rooney came on as a late substitute in their Europa League triumph over Ajax at Stockholm in late May. He had only managed five goals in the Premier League season , his lowest in Manchester United shirt. He raked up only 2415 minutes of football and the future at the club looks more bleak for the legendary centre forward.
