Maria Kanellis Emasculating Forced Her Husband To Ask Release From WWE?
Mike Kanellis was recently in headlines when he requested his release from WWE publicly on social media in October. The company never considers these kinds of public display good for their company and hence the superstar received a lot of backstage heat. He was not able to leave as per his pledge and thereby ended up getting removed from TV.
During an appearance on Swings & Mrs, Mike Kanellis addressed his request for release from the WWE. He was asked whether the TV angle created for him with wife Maria Kanellis led up to his mind of doing so.
It was a strange storyline starting on WWE Raw where Maria Kanellis revealed that Mike was not the father of her second child. She named Ricochet and then Rusev to be the father trying to make a joke around her husband. The emasculated position continued for Mike for weeks before Maria was taken off TV due to pregnancy reasons.
It was a weekly basis humiliation for Mike Kanellis on WWE Raw which the audience was not comfortable with, either. However, Mike stated that it was not this angle that forced him to make up his mind of leaving WWE.
It was just a fake angle that he had to play. But the bottom line is it would have reached nowhere, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“The angle itself didn’t bother me. Because I tell people this and it makes people yell at me, but it’s a fake television show. It’s not real. My name isn’t really Mike Kanellis and yes, I really am married to Maria Kanellis, but at the end of the day, I am playing a role on a TV show.
It’s the same thing as if Mike Bennett played serial killer number one on Law & Order. It doesn’t reflect who I am as a person so I don’t mind trying something different or thinking outside the box. My only issue was it didn’t go anywhere.”
“If they say I have to be emasculated by my wife, I’m like fine, I don’t care. I get offended when it doesn’t go anywhere.”
Mike Kanellis signed a five-year contract extension with WWE this past June. But then again he requested his release on October 14th which was just four months later of the deal.
As per his comments, he does not have a problem with WWE as they have taken care of his family. But personally he is not okay as he is yet to prove himself to be a top singles competitor to the entire pro-wrestling industry,
“I’ve never thought that people consider me one of the best wrestlers in the world I want to give an attempt to prove top them that I can be that wrestler.
I’m not mad at WWE, they’ve treated me wonderfully and still do, through addiction, Maria’s pregnancy, they’ve taken care of us. I have nothing but love for that company. It’s just personal, I just want to go and wrestle.”
