Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has insisted on leaving the club despite the injury crisis at right back position. Both Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot are ruled out for the start of the season.
However, Darmian is adamant to stay at the club after the lack of playing time under Jose Mourinho. The talented Italian was restricted to just five starts in Premier League last season. Having shown great promise in his debut season under Louis van Gaal, Matteo Darmian could not establish a similar impression under Mourinho.

The 28-year old captained Manchester United in their pre-season friendly against AC Milan. But considering his situation, Darmian is keen to leave the club. It is revealed that Antonio Valencia will miss the start of the season.
On the other hand, Dalot will remain on the sidelines until September. This makes Darmian as the only viable option for Mourinho. But Darmian has given up the idea of breaking into starting lineup under Jose Mourinho.
“I don’t think the injury of Antonio is a big injury. But I don’t know how long he needs to stay out, but at the moment he is the captain, he’s first choice,” Darmian said.
“I want to play more regularly. Last season, I didn’t play much — that’s my objective and my ambition. That’s why I spoke with the manager and also with the club about my future. I want to leave but we will see what happens because we don’t know.”
Jose Mourinho has previously told that Matteo Darmian is in his plans for the upcoming season. But the manager recently insisted that he could let Darmian leave the club if an acceptable offer arrives.
Interest From Serie A Clubs
The Italian is drawing plenty of interest from Serie A clubs. The likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli are all interested. He is a proven talent in the Italian league and would be a great addition to any side that he plays for.

Also going back to Italy would significantly rise his playing time and a chance to break into the national team. Having arrived for £12.7 million in 2015, Darmian has managed 85 appearances for Manchester United in his three year spell.
But the club needs to act swiftly if they are planning to sell Darmian. Premier League clubs have deadline till August 9 to make any transfers. On the other hand, Italian clubs can sign players till August 17.
