With every passing game, Ishan Kishan is pretty much justifying the team-management’s decision of preferring Shubman Gill ahead of him. The Indian team-management was questioned by various sections after dropping Ishan Kishan from the ODI playing eleven right after he scored a double century against Bangladesh.
The team-management backed Gill and he responded by smashing a double century, two centuries and a fifty in six ODIs against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Kishan, on the other hand, is having a tough time with the bat.
While he did not get a chance in the ODIs against Sri Lanka, he played in all the three games against New Zealand although not as an opener. In those three games, his scores were 17, 8* and 5.

And his poor run has continued in the T20Is too. He has played all the six T20Is that India have played this year and has failed in most of them. In the first 5 games, he registered scores of 37, 2, 1, 4 and 19 with the last two scores coming in the ongoing series against New Zealand.
Ishan Kishan vs off-spinners in all T20s since 2022:
– 91 Runs
– 52 Dots
– 79.82 SR
– 18.20 Avg#INDvSL— Prasenjit Dey (@CricPrasen) February 1, 2023
On Wednesday (February 1), he failed with the bat once again. Once again, his weakness against off-spinners was evident as Michael Bracewell sent him back for just 1. Kishan was trapped in front of the wicket as India were off to a poor start after deciding to bat first in the series-decider.
The latest failure with the bat means the southpaw has finished the three-match series with just 24 runs under his belt. And as Ishan Kishan failed to deliver once again, the Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to slam him for his poor displays.
Here are some of the reactions to Ishan Kishan’s latest failure with the bat:
Ishan Kishan CANNOT play off spinners he CANNOT open in T20Is, enough is enough ?

I will pick even Prabhsimran before Ishan Kishan. And these guys have legit Prithvi Shaw sitting on the bench. In the name of backing and pecking and shit, Dravid has made the system as servant of the rules. Hardik is anyway much concerned about filling this team with GT Quota.

Ishan Kishan will have to pull off a David Miller-level redemption arc to have a successful international career from here.
Really disappointed.
