Ravindra Jadeja has been retained by CSK at a price of 16-crore

In the build-up of the excitement for the auction, Star Sports Tamil posted a tweet slotting these 4 players in the XI in which Jadeja was slotted to bat at no.8. Since it was written in Tamil, Jadeja first asked to translate it.

Then once fans translated the tweet and he got to know that he was placed at no.8, he gave a cheeky reply to them that no.8 is too early for him and slot him to no.11.

“No 8 too early for me! Put me @ 11,” Ravindra Jadeja tweeted.

Jadeja has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012 as he was part of two title-winning campaigns in 2018 and 2021.

In the 2021 season, the allrounder scored 227 runs with a strike rate of 145.51 and also picked 13 wickets with an exceptional economy of 7.06. No wonder he bagged the highest price tag among 4 retained players even more than MS Dhoni.

In his IPL career, Jadeja represented only 3 IPL franchises- Rajasthan Royals (In the first three seasons), Kochi Tuskers Kerala (2011), Chennai Super Kings (2012- now)

In 10 years with the franchise, Jadeja played 132 IPL matches for the Yellow Army as he scored 1324 runs with a strike rate of 135.79. While with the ball, he picked 100 wickets with an economy of 7.53.

Jadeja has been out of the action for a while now as he missed the entire South Africa tour due to injury. Currently, he is doing the final stage of rehabilitation as he is likely to be available for the Sri Lanka series.

Sri Lanka will travel to India to play a series of 2 Tests and 3 T20Is. The test series will be part of the World Test Championship.
