Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams has been named as the top seeds for the US open which is all set to commence on Monday in New York.

While Serena Williams will be eyeing to complete a calendar grand slam in 27 years, Novak Djokovic will be chasing his third grand slam of the year. Serena’s build-up to the US Open has been great by winning the Cincinnati title whereas on the other hand Novak Djokovic failed to win any title at Rogers Cup and Western and Southern open after reaching the finals.

The five-time US Open champion Roger Federer is seeded no.2 who is looking fresh and raring to go in the US Open after winning his seventh Cincinnati title. The Brit Andy Murray has been seeded no.3 while the Spaniard Rafael Nadal has been seeded no.8th who missed out in the US Open last year. The defending champion Marin Cilic has been seeded no.9th.

 

In the Women’s category Simona Halep has been seeded no.2 and Russia’s Maria Sharapova has been seeded no.3 after missing out in the pre-build up tournaments due to an injury. Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark is seeded no.4th
