“Eoin’s entitled to his opinion. He’s obviously been away for a couple of weeks with the birth of his child. He hasn’t been in and around the rooms, but I’ll certainly take that up with him and have a chat with him. We’ve got a really good relationship with him. So, if he’s seeing something that I’m not, I’ll definitely have that conversation,” Matthew Mott said.
It has been four years since the reigning champions won the 50-over World Cup for the first time. However, they are now facing the possibility of an embarrassing group-stage exit. Out of their previous six matches, they have lost five, managing to win only once against Bangladesh.
People Are Putting Their Arms Around Each Other, Trying To Help Them – Matthew Mott
Matthew Mott stated that despite their tough run in the ODI World Cup, the team has been united. He mentioned that the players have each other’s backs during the games and are working hard to stay in the tournament.
“There’s every opportunity when you’re losing to splinter and go your separate ways. I can only say from my opinion the group’s been incredibly strong in that part. If you see our training sessions, they’re full of fun.
“People are putting their arms around each other, trying to help them. It’s easy to do that when you’re winning, it’s a lot harder when you’re losing. I’m proud that we keep trying to get up,” Matthew Mott added.
To be part of the Champions Trophy, the reigning champions must place among the top eight after the World Cup’s league stage. England would be immensely disappointed to lose this competition, as they have never won the Champions Trophy.
