Former Manchester United player Patrice Evra has revealed that he will not be retiring in near future because he has 24 siblings to feed.
The French defender has been an integral part of Manchester United’s success in his eight year stint at Old Trafford as he made the left back position his own during his days. He then left to Italian club Juventus in the summer of 2014 and won two Serie A titles as well.
Now, Evra is playing back in his home country for Marseille as he is keen to end his career on a high. The 36-year old has caught up with ITV after playing in Michael Carrick’s testimonial on Sunday and insisted that he is not hanging his boots up anytime soon.
He told ITV: “I hope he will play for many years, he has to keep playing like me.
“I am still playing because I still have 24 brothers and sisters to feed so I can’t stop, I have to run.
“Michael Carrick is still an important player for Manchester United and I remember this year always when he was playing the result was always positive.”
The Frenchman has also thanked Carrick for inviting him to the testimonial as the match has helped the Michael Carrick Foundation to generate more than a million pounds by the 70,000 crowd present in Old Trafford.
Evra has admitted that he was emotional on his return to the club as he added: “It’s just amazing, firstly thank you to Michael Carrick for inviting us all to his testimonial.
“But it’s just too much emotion, too much feeling to come back in the dressing room, to see the gaffer, the fans, the stadium.
“It’s just amazing so that’s why we should say thanks to God to have a happy moment like that.
“So I’m really happy and I say thank you to all the family of Michael Carrick.”
Evra has won five Premier League titles and one Champions League title during his time at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson and is considered as one of the best defenders the club had in the recent years.
The match was a nerve raking thriller with 35-year old Michael Carrick scoring the equalizer in the final ten minutes with a sumptuous kick from outside the box to make it 2-2 at the end of the game. The fixture has ensured that fans revisited the old days as Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nemenja Vidic have all returned to Old Trafford.
