Records kept on getting shattered as the first day of the two-day auction, for the sixth season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) progressed.
In the past five seasons, not a single player had bagged a deal worth in crores. However, the record went for a toss in this year’s auction.
The record was made only for it to be broken within minutes. At the end of day one, Monu Goyat hogged all the limelight. He became the most expensive player in PKL history after being sold for INR 1.51 crore.
It all started when Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali bagged an INR one crore deal from U Mumba.
Atrachali became the first player in the PKL history to get an INR one crore deal and also became the most expensive.
However, the record lasted only for a while as Jaipur Pink Panthers shelled out INR 1.15 crore – to sign up Deepak Hooda. From thereon, several players breached the one crore-mark.
Rahul Chaudhari then held the record for few minutes as he was bought for INR 1.29 crore. Nitin Tomar, the costliest player before the auction started, also bagged a deal of INR 1.15 crore, while Rishank Devadiga attracted a fee of INR 1.11 crore.
Records and Rahul Chaudhari walk hand-in-hand!
