In the last decade or so we often tend to see the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic winning most of the Grand Slams. But we also saw some surprises in the form of Del potro, Stanislas Wawrinka and Marin Cilic having a grand slam under their belt which seemed to be a hard task for them.

Now let’s have a look at the players who deserved to win a grand slam.

  1.        David Ferrer:

David Ferrer often regarded as one of the great competitors the game has ever seen and clay is prominent surface where he is utterly dominant. David Ferrer has won 24 singles title and has a career winning percentage of 67.78. Ferrer has reached the final on French Open once and semi-finals of Australian Open and US Open twice. However, Wimbledon has been his least successful surface but he managed to reach the quarter-finals twice. The 33 year old has given a lot to the game and in years to come he can win a grand slam provided the luck in his favour which at the moment seems to be less favourable.

  1.        Tomas Berdych:

Tomas Berdych announced himself to the world when he reached the semi-finals of the French Open and later he went on to reach the final of Wimbledon in the same year. Berdych has won 10 singles titles to his name with a career winning percentage of 65.69.Berdych also made the semi-finals of the Australian open twice and US Open once. Berdych certainly has the game to hurt the top players and on his day he can beat them and winning a grand slam is not far away from his sights.

  1.        Jo Wilfried Tsonga:

The Frenchman has managed to win 11 singles title in his career and has a career winning percentage of 68. 13. Tsonga has always been a threat to the top seeds upsetting them on numerous occasions but however he couldn’t reign supreme in grand slams. He has reached the final of Australian open once and has reached the semi-finals of French Open and Wimbledon twice. US Open was not a successful one for the Frenchman as he reached the quarter-final of that event only once. Tsonga can however give a shot at the French Open in coming years as he has enormous home support.

  1.        Tommy Haas:

The veteran German Tennis player has been a great ambassador for the sport. The former world no.2 has a career winning percentage of 64.01. The German has managed to win 15 singles titles in his career. However his best result in grand slams is reaching the semi-finals of Australian open thrice and Wimbledon once. He didn’t fetch much success in French Open and US open with quarter-final being his best result. The German has achieved pinnacle of glory by winning the Olympic silver medal but still he will go down as a player who deserved to win at least a single slam.

  1.        David Nalbandian:

David Nalbandian, the strong Argentinian have always been consistent in grand slam events. The 33 year old has a winning percentage of 66.72 and a career highest ranking of no.3. The Argentinian managed to win 11 singles titles in his career and has been supremely consistent in grand slams reaching the finals of Wimbledon once and semi-finals of French Open twice and reached the semi-finals of Australian open and French open once. The 33 year old managed to win the ATP world tour finals once in 2005 but unfortunately to his liking he couldn’t manage to reign in grand slam events. He will go down as one the best players to have never won a grand slam
