American Sam Querrey slammed British Andy Murray 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-1 on Wednesday to secure a place in the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
Querrey, seeded No.24, fired 27 aces and 70 winners to get rid of the defending champion and World No.1 in a match that lasted for two hours and 41 minutes on the Centre Court, reports Efe. West Indies Vs India 2017: T20I We Were 20-30 Runs Short Virat Kohli
The 29-year-old Querrey was one game down in the fourth set, before he won nine games in a row, as the hip issue Murray was struggling with before the tournament apparently started to bother him.
The former World No.17 Querrey, who ousted Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon 2016, reached the Grand Slam semi-finals for first time since he became a professional player in 2006.
Murray’s defeat opens the door for Djokovic to recover the top spot in ATP rankings, if he wins his fourth title at the All England Club.
