In the recently-concluded Kabaddi Masters Dubai 2018, Indian Kabbadi team asserted their supremacy and now with the 18thAsian Games around the corner, they are gearing up for their eight consecutive Gold in the Men’s Kabaddi tournament. Interestingly, third consecutive Gold in the Women’s Kabaddi tournament.
In keeping with the ever-growing popularity of the sport, Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd., rights owner and organizer of the VIVO ProKabaddi League, with the support of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), has announced #RaidForGold, a unique initiative that reaches out across the country to give Indians the opportunity – to rally behind and express their support for the National Kabaddi team.
‘Raid for Gold’ commenced on 9th July 2018, to represent the “Voice of a Million Fans” for the Indian National Kabaddi team to achieve the highest glory yet again for India’s own sport.
This initiative will witness participation from children over 2,000-plus schools in 19 cities across India.
Alongside signing up digitally to pledge their support, students will also get an opportunity to interact with renowned Kabaddi stars like Ajay Thakur, RishankDevadiga, Rahul Chaudhari, Deepak Hooda and Rohit Kumar as they visit schools across the country as a part of the initiative.
“It is heartening to see the launch of a unique, nationwide effort, #RaidForGold, to rally support for the Indian Kabaddi Team for the upcoming Asian Games. The initiative has truly brought about a sense of passion and support for a game like Kabaddi that was earlier possibly seen only in cricket, owing to the ever-growing popularity of Pro Kabaddi League as well,” while speaking on the #RaidForGold initiative,” Deepak Niwas Hooda, India National Kabaddi Team Player said,“This was evident in my interactions with young fans across schools in Delhi and I was overwhelmed by their interest in the sport. I would urge all fans of the sport to pledge their support for the Indian Kabaddi team through #RaidForGold to represent the voice of a nation in our quest for victory,” Hooda added.

Further, to express solidarity to the Indian Kabaddi team, the pledges will work as a reminder that when they step on the mat, it’s not just a team of seven players, but the whole of India vying for victory.
Kabaddi was included as a discipline in the 11th Asian Games held in Beijing in 1990, where India’s only gold medal was through Kabaddi. Since then, the Kabaddi team has been the pride of India in all editions of the Asian Games.
India put up a spectacular performance at the recently concluded Kabaddi Masters Dubai 2018 tournament where they beat Iran in the finals.

The 18thAsian Games will begin on the 18th of August 2018 and will showcase the clash between countries like Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, India, Pakistan, South Korea and many more as they battle for a chance at the gold.
