It was also reported later via the Wrestling Observer, that Rob Gronkowski could end up wrestling his first match at WWE SummerSlam 2020 that takes place at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusettes in August.
It would be fitting as Gronk spent his entire NFL career with the Patriots. For now, speculations are running rampant over WWE inserting him to some sort of angles over on SmackDown leading up to a WrestleMania appearance.

Apparently, that would be planting seeds for his SummerSlam match in 2020. There’s no update available on who could potentially end up being his opponent but Mojo Rawley should be involved in that angle. There’s also no word whether Mojo is changing his heel character due to this signing of Rob Gronkowski.
WWE Hall of Famer Lita appeared on ESPN’s late-night show Now or Never to talk about her new project with Gail Kim and Christy Hemme, KAYFABE. The veteran name discussed during this interview whether WWE signing Rob Gronkowski is good for them and if the NFL player could be a break-out star in the company. In reply, Lita has thrown positive shades on this debut,
“I love seeing that small percentage of people that cross over because being a professional athlete you’re so focused and you’re not thinking about the charisma and the stuff that goes into being a wrestler,” Lita said. “But you see Gronk and Mojo together, who also has that larger than life personality. You might not know all the moves, you might not know all the ins and outs but there’s no denying that charisma and that personality, he has the personality.”
“He has the raw tools, the charisma, the athleticism. It’s now about listening and figuring out how to make this work. I think he has a good shot though.”
Only time will tell whether Rob Gronkowski ends up having a successful WWE career or not. Given his name and mainstream fame, there’s no doubt that he could be a huge special attraction on TV, moving forward. It’s not known whether this WWE stint will affect his FOX gig for NFL.
