Indian Lawn Tennis player Sania Mirza has slammed second-seeded Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina with her Zimbabwean partner Clara Black. They won the game 6-4, 6-1. With this victory they have sustained their berth in the semifinal of the women’s doubles at the BNP Paribas Open.
This 27 year old Indian Tennis player is known well for her mighty forehand ground strokes. Sania began her professional career in 2003. She produced some remarkable wins over Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, Marion Bartoli. She gave world no 1 Martina Hingis, Dinara Safina, and Victoria Azarenka defeat in international level. Sania has earned her career best 27th ranking in singles and 7th ranking in doubles. She gained the Australian Open grand slam and French Open grand slam mixed open in 2009, 2012 respectively with Mahesh Bhupathi.
On the other hand the partner of this one of the ’50 heroes of the Asia’ by the Times, the Zimbabwean tennis player Clara Black is double specialist. She had begun her career in 1996. She won 57 WTA and 11 ITF in her career. She made a total of 10 grand slams in both mixed doubles and women’s doubles. After Martina Navratilova and Daniela Hantuchová, she is the third woman to finish a career grand slam.
This pair will now confront the fourth-seeded Czech Lucie Hradecka and China’s Jie Zheng in the next draw. This pair defeated Kveta Peschke and Katerina Srebotnik in a head to head match whom they ended at 7-5, 5-7, 3-10.
