23-time singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams became a mother on 1st September when she gave birth to a baby girl. William introduced the baby to the world on Wednesday, when she posted a picture of the baby lying on her on Instagram. Williams who is dating Reddit Co-founder Alexis Ohanian, named the baby after the co-founder as “Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.” She wrote, “Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. You have to check out link in bio for her amazing journey. Williams who last played in 2017 Australian Open and won it against her sister Venus Williams has been on a maternity break since then, missing out the French open, Wimbledon and the US Open. She went on a maternity break as the World Number one player.
The Pair also shared a video of their journey through Williams’s pregnancy. In a two minute clip, the pair shared some special moment during the pregnancy like, the first ultra-sound of the child, Serena’s baby bump at different stages till baby’s arrival to this world.
Williams won the Australian open eight weeks pregnant but has been out of action since then. Williams also touched upon a serious issue of her pregnancy when she revealed that there were a lot of complications in her pregnancy.
Earlier Serena announced her engagement with the tech beau, Alexis Ohanian on 29th December 2016. Williams will be hoping for a comeback to the court as soon as possible. Since, Serena’s absence for the tour, the women’s division has opened up for all the players. This was the first time since 2014, which Williams could only manage to win one grand slam in a year.
Since winning her first Grand Slam in 1999 at the US Open where she defeated Martina Hingis in the final, Serena has only missed out on a Grand Slam in 2000 and 2006. Hopefully, she makes a comeback soon and gets her dominance back on the court. She is currently ranked 22nd in the world despite being out of action for nine months.
