Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard is currently missing after a swim session at Venice Beach in California on Sunday. He was out on the beach with his 10-year-old son, according to TMZ.
The reports suggest that Shad Gaspard and his son were among a group of swimmers who got caught in a strong rip current at around 4 pm local time. Lifeguards rushed into the water to pull everyone out. Shad’s son was rescued by them, while the former WWE Superstar has not been located. Till now, he is the only one missing from the group who were out to swim on the beach.

TMZ further reported that officials sent a search party for the 39-year-old Shad Gaspard. The LA Fire Department later noted that they believe Gaspard “did submerge” in the water. Divers were sent to scour the area whereas helicopters were have also been sent to search from above the sea.
“That group was stuck in one of the rip currents and were swimming just north of the lifeguard tower,” Los Angeles Fire Department lifeguard specialist Pono Barnes told ABC7. “That’s why lifeguards were able to get there so soon, but unfortunately, one did, however, submerge.”

Apparently, the incident took place on a day when the surf and the weather created challenging conditions. “That surf that we have paired with a little bit of wind and good tidal swing today made rip currents a little bit more prevalent and a little bit stronger,” Barnes added.
As per one witness at the scene, Shad Gaspard directed rescuers to help his son first when lifeguards appeared into the ocean. During the son’s rescue, another large wave reportedly flowed away Gaspard and that was the last time he was seen.
The family of the former WWE star released a statement through WWE star MVP and AEW star Lance Archer.

Wife of Shad Gaspard, Siliana Gaspard, remained on the beach during the rescue and spotted staring out to the ocean while the Coast Guard searched the sea, according to released photos from The Daily Mail. They informed that Siliana later left the beach with close friends.
“I saw the young boy who was inconsolable and his mother who had her arms wrapped around him,” one of the onlookers stated via The Daily Mail. “The whole thing was just heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking to see this mother and child in complete despair.”
