Why Shawn Michaels Is Happy To Play Backstage Role For WWE NXT
NXT is said to be a mine of talents who will be the future of WWE. The brand owned and created by Triple H also has his best buddy in charge of the talents.
The emerging superstars get to learn from none other than Shawn Michaels, himself. He is one of the major officials and backstage producers to run things in the so-called developmental territory.
Now having perhaps the greatest in-ring talent of the all-time present by their side definitely raises the question of whether we can see him back to the ring, again.
The question continues to roam even wilder as he laced up the boots at Crown Jewel pay-per-view in 2018. But that will remain as a one-off appearance by Shawn Michaels since he prefers it this way only.
Shawn Michaels is backstage helping put things together. This is a role that he doesn’t want to covert either. While speaking to Sports Illustrated, the Heart-Break Kidd explained why he would rather prefer to stay behind the scenes in NXT. They have stars like Shayna Baszler, Adam Cole who tear it down while performing inside that squared circle, every single time.
Shawn Michaels believes it’s their time to steal the show and not someone old like him to step back into the ring. His time has come and gone and he will be happy to watch them as a producer rather than facing them. Check out his comments, (courtesy ringsidenews.com)
“I’d rather stay behind the scenes and let the stars of tomorrow take their rightful place. My time has come and gone. This is all about them. NXT is wrestling at its best. We’re going to continue on that track, and that’s showing people the best talent in WWE, which is in NXT.”
“They deliver every single time they’re out there,” said Michaels. “All three of them all embrace and adapt to big situations. I’ve never seen one of them not look cool, calm or collected when they go out into high impact, highly visible matches.
There hasn’t been a time for any of them where the situation was too big or got the better of them, and that gives us a great deal of confidence moving forward. These are all big-time performers.”
Shawn Michaels remaining as a backstage official in NXT has proven to be quite fruitful, so far. The talents have been proven to be much beneficial, so far.
One can never say never about him making a cameo appearance, but he has made up his mind about not adopting a regular role on television, ever.
