WWE SmackDown star Sonya Deville is a proud member of the Lesbian community and she wants WWE to come up with an angle that could involve the entire community. WWE nurtured the idea of running a lesbian storyline in recent times on Raw with Lana and Liv Morgan. It was thought that they would have a bigger plan with the angle.
But then it was revealed that the storyline was only executed because the officials wanted a shocking moment on the show. No such follow-ups have been planned around it. Sonya Deville opened up about her lesbian community membership during her time at Total Divas reality show and now she’s pretty serious to promote LGBTQ community on WWE television.
While speaking to the New York Post, Sonya Deville stated that she can feel that a lesbian angle is waiting for her on WWE TV, soon. It could even happen this year, because it’s hard to predict what idea WWE could pitch, next for her. WWE’s top officials are said to be very much impressed with the heel character played by Deville and they could arrange big things for her.
“I think anything’s possible. Especially this year, I don’t rule it out at all. Like I’ve said in the past, inclusion is important in every aspect of life, including sports entertainment, and I think that the company would agree on that. I think it’s definitely a possibility this year.”
While speaking in this interview for promotion purposes of WWE and her Rainbow Love clothing line, Sonya Deville also talked about Cyber-bullying. She always felt the need of speaking up and raise awareness against the hateful posts or comments. She firmly stands by these following words,
“It’s so important that we have each other’s backs and we stand up for each other. Nobody’s gonna make a change by being silent. Nothing’s gonna change that we want to change without speaking up for what we believe in.”
Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose had previously pitched a lesbian storyline while they used to be a tag team namely Fire n Desire on SmackDown. WWE did tease the same for a one-off occasion but didn’t move forward with it.
Once that was canceled, Deville and Mandy weren’t happy about WWE giving a lesbian angle to Liv Morgan and Lana on Raw. However, they must be glad now as the story didn’t go anywhere.
