BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has provided an update on India‘s search for the new test captain as he said that the selectors would consider all the parameters and it will be announced soon.
Notable that Virat Kohli resigned from the Test captaincy after the series loss against South Africa last month. Since then, the hunt for his successor has been going on. Rohit Sharma, who is already appointed as white-ball skipper, is the frontrunner for the job.
However, there are talks that India should go with split captaincy to manage the workload of the players.
Whoever fits the bill will be the next Indian Test captain: Sourav Ganguly

So KL Rahul, who led India in Virat’s absence in the Johannesburg Test in the last series, is also among favorite candidates to take over. Some former players also put the names of Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin for the role.
The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that the selectors are considering all parameters before making the announcement.
“Obviously, there are certain parameters of leadership and whoever fits the bill will be the next Indian Test captain. I believe selectors will have a name in mind and they will discuss it with office-bearers — President and Secretary — and it will be announced in due course of time,” Sourav Ganguly spoke to PTI.
Ganguly also hit out to all accusations in which it was claimed that he influenced the selections by making a presence in the selection meeting.

“I don’t think I need to answer anybody anything (on this) and dignify any of these baseless accusations. I am the president of BCCI and I do the job of what the president of BCCI should be doing,” Ganguly said
“Also just to let you know, I see a picture doing the rounds (of social media) showing me sitting in a selection committee meeting. I want to make it clear, that picture (where Ganguly can be seen sitting with secretary Jay Shah, skipper Virat Kohli and joint secretary Jayesh George) wasn’t from a selection committee meeting,” he added.
India’s next Test assignment will be a 2-Test series against Sri Lanka in March which will also be a part of World Test Championship.
