WWE Friday Night SmackDown Full Results: January 24, 2020
According to Tom Colohue, the current plan is for Brock Lesnar to defend the WWE Championship against Cain Velasquez at WrestleMania 36. As reported earlier, Velasquez is locked in, to work at Royal Rumble 2020 with the target being the WWE Champion. There’s a chance that he will compete in the Royal Rumble 2020 match and ends up eliminating Lesnar.
This could set up the rubber match between these two names at WrestleMania 36. However, plans can change as the rematch between Lesnar & Velasquez is also being nurtured to take place at the Saudi Arabia PPV on February 27.
Brock Lesnar is contractually obligated to work on all the Saudi shows. Hence the insider belief is that he’d put his title on the line during the upcoming show.
Brock Lesnar, WrestleMania Rematch, & More Announced For WWE Raw
Apart from the WWE Championship match, another big title match was hinted by Colohue for WrestleMania 36. It will be contested for the SmackDown women’s title held by Bayley.
She will defend against none other than her own best friend, Sasha Banks in a match that many of the fans wanted to see on the main roster for a long time. It looks like the match would finally be sanctioned for the next WrestleMania.
For now, Bayley and Sasha Banks have been acting as the best friends with both women playing the role of bonafide heels. But the equation could very well be changing around Royal Rumble in order to set up the match. Seeds of this feud will soon be planted on SmackDown to produce one of the marquee matches from the women’s division on April 5th.
