The recent statement from Cricket Australia serves as a precedent when it comes to taking the folly into consideration.

Following the ball-tampering incident, the Board revealed skipper Steven Smith and his deputy will face the 12-month ban, whereas, Cameron Bancroft has to remain out of the park for nine months.

Earlier, on March 24, Smith alongside fronted the media in Cape Town to admit the blunder. However, Smith went on to refer it was the ‘leadership tactic’ which drew the ire.

Moreover, the players are banned not to participate in the Board-sponsored events during a period of the ban.

Australian cricketers Steven Smith and David Warner have had to pay the massive price for their folly.

Soon after the verdict from Cricket Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided the fate of Smith and Warner for the eleventh edition.

The acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary revealed in his media briefing that both players won’t be entertained for this edition at least.

Earlier, Smith stood down from his post for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals before Warner decided to stand down for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On January 2018, respective teams retained both players in the retention policy list.

Pertinently, the franchises have invested a lot in the giant forces of cricket like Smith and Warner.
