Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is easily one of the best players to have ever played for England.
He stayed loyal to the Anfield outfit and dedicated 17 years to the club, winning a number of accolades in his time.
He started as a teenager and went on to captain the side to some memorable nights, including the Istanbul miracle, where he helped his side to come back from a 3-0 first half deficit against one of the best sides ever in AC Milan.
He left the club to play for a couple of years in the MLS but is now back in the as the coach of the club’s U18 side, searching for the next prodigy.
However, he has not always been that loyal and at a point of time, he handed in a transfer request that could have seen his career take a big turn.
Having won the biggest competition on the planet, Gerrard failed to lift a single Premier League title in his time at Anfield and in 2005, after the final at Istanbul, he wanted out of Liverpool.

He then issued a statement that read:
This has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make.
“I fully intended to sign a new contract after the Champions League final, but the events of the past five to six weeks have changed all that.”
He ended up staying at the club but the Premier League title eluded him in his entire career.
In a recent program in Belfast named ‘Gerrard Live’ the Liverpool legend revealed that current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho tried to sign him on more than one occasion.
The 37-year old said that Mourinho tried to sign him in his time at Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan and that he could have easily shifted clubs in his career.
“It depends how close, close is!” said Gerrard.

“Of course there was a lot of speculation around 2004/2005.
“He tried to sign me probably about five or six times during my career.
“Twice at Chelsea, he tried to sign me at Inter Milan and for Real Madrid as well.
“I could have gone and played for him at different teams but I never did.”
A move could have given him a couple of more trophies but he will forever remain as the most loyal player at one of the best clubs in Europe.
