The students of late Subedar Fateh Singh, the former major who lost his life in the terrorist encounter in Pathankot on Saturday, still cannot believe that their Sir will not ever come again to Mhow to train them. Late Fate Singh who earned three gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in 1995 turned a successful coach later after he retired from the army and joined Defense Security Force (DSC). The 51-year old former Big Bores rifle shooter was settled in Mhow, the small suburb town, around 23 kilometers away from Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

Rajendra Singh Thapa, the country’s international rifle shooter, said over the phone from Mhow on Saturday, “I still cannot believe that our sir is no more. I can remember those days when sir used to travel from Pathankot to Mhow every week, just to train us. Even, he used to motivate and guide those rifle shooters who were not in big bore shooting category.”

Fateh Singh’s another student, CK Chowdhury who was a former 25-meter pistol shooter from Mhow had also the same opinion when he said, “He was acceptable to everybody in Mhow. His family, comprising wife, two sons and a daughter were also settled in Mhow and despite the fact that Fateh Singh was posted to Pathankot for last two years, sir used to come to Mhow to train us. It was simply unbelievable.”
