Former England captain Michael Vaughan is in awe of Indian youngsters in the Under-19 World Cup as he praised the Yash Dhull & Co. for their exceptional performance in the semifinal clash against Australia. Vaughan looked quite impressed with the India captain Yash Dhull who scored a magnificent hundred to lead his team into the final.

“India U19s batting looked high class … The future looks secured for the Indian Team .. Yash Dhull looks exceptional .. #U19WorldCup2022,” Michael Vaughan tweeted.

On Wednesday Indian youngsters put on another fine exhibition of batting as they put on a huge total of 290/5 in 50 overs despite losing their openers early. Captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed put on a double century stand for the third wicket. Yash Dhull (110) joined an elite list of Indian captains to score a hundred in a U-19 World Cup while Shaik Rasheed fell short of the milestone by just 6 runs. In the end, Dinesh Bana gave them a good flourish with a cameo of 4-ball 20.

In response, Australia hardly could hardly compete against a quality Indian attack. The left-arm pacer Ravi Kumar provided them an early breakthrough then Corey Miller and Campbell Kellaway put on a 68-run stand then it’s all spinners show who broke the back of the Australian middle order. Vicky Ostwal picked 3 wickets while another fellow left-arm spinner Nishant Sandhu got two.

India’s campaign in this World Cup has been a roller coaster ride.  As far as performances on the field are concerned, there was hardly a moment when the opposition held the upper hand but there was a moment when India was struggling to find 11 fit players as 6 of their players were tested positive for Covid-19 which included the regular captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed.

However, they all recovered in time before the quarter-final clash against Bangladesh as India beat the defending champions by 5 wickets.

On Saturday India will face England in the final. Previously India won the 4 tiles in the U-19 World Cup in the year 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. It will be their 4th consecutive final in the U-19 World Cup as they fell short in the finals of 2016 and 2020.
