Harkia won the silver medal in women’s singles category and Humpy won bronze medal in women’s World Chess Championship in China.

Indian women’s team started the match against Armenian (who by the way were without thier top player Elina Lilit) Mkrtchian, where latter won a first game against the top rated player in the championship Humpy Koneru. However, India showed strength on the lower boards and emerged victorious 3-1 to be place fourth in over all ranking in the tournament. Georgia concluded the 2015 FIDE World Team Chess Championship in Chengdu China, by defeating the host country and three-times champion China. Georgia took the gold medal with 17 match points, conceding only one tie to Russia. Russia put up a powerful performance against USA, convincingly winning the match 3.5-0.5 and bagging silver medal with a tally of 15 points. China is third with 11 match points, claiming the bronze. The remaining six places were bagged in the following order: UKRAINE – 10, 6.KAZAKHSTAN – 9, ARMENIA – 7, POLAND – 6, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – 5 and EGYPT – 0

Indian Men lost their last league match to China and missed the Bronze medal in FIDE men’s world team chess championship on 28 April 2015.  China won team chess championship for the first time in Tsaghksdzor, Armenia, after beating India 3-1 in the last round. Harikrishna and Shashikiran drew their match while Sethuraman and  Sengupta lost their matches to the opponents. The Chinese team composed of Bu Xiangzhi, Ding Liren, Yu Yangyi, Wei Yi and Wang Chen, finished with 15 points from nine rounds in the round-robin tournament which featured the world’s best 10 teams. Ukraine took the silver with 12 points, and hosts Armenia had bronze with 11 points. The final standings were: 1. CHINA – 15, 2. UKRAINE – 12, 3. ARMENIA – 11, 4. RUSSIA – 10, 5. USA – 10,  6. HUNGARY – 9, 7. ISRAEL – 8, 8. CUBA – 7, 9. INDIA – 7,  10. EGYPT – 1
