Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin is not quite pleased with all the developments in Indian cricket for the last week or so.

If reports are believed to be true, then Virat Kohli might take a break from the ODI series in South Africa to spend some time with his family. His daughter Vamika will turn to one on January 11, 2022. On the same day, he is likely to play his 100th Test match at Cape Town.

However, there are rumours floating around in all corners. Since Rohit Sharma has been ruled out for Test Series, it has been believed that both captains want to avoid playing under each other as much as possible.

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin believed that it could have been stopped if Virat Kohli times his break better.

Mohammad Azharuddin Lashes Out At Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma

He tweeted, “Virat Kohli has informed that he’s not available for the ODI series & Rohit Sharma is unavailable for the upcoming test (series). There is no harm in taking a break but the timing has to be better. This just substantiates speculation about the rift. Neither will be giving up the other form of cricket.

India are scheduled to play 3 Tests in South Africa, starting from December 26 at Centurion while the ODI series will begin from January 19 at Paarl. In last South Africa tour 2017-18, India won their first ODI series win in South Africa, beating the hosts by a whopping margin of 5-1. Indian skipper Virat Kohli led from the front with 558 runs in 6 games with an average of 186 which included 3 hundreds.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan also scored one hundred each but the series is famously remembered for Kul-Cha i.e. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who picked 17 wickets and 16 wickets respectively.
