She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in nearby Bosque Farms. Youngest of three children, Holm played soccer and participated in gymnastics, swimming, and diving while growing up.

She is one of the most decorated female boxers of all time. As an amateur kickboxer, she won the women’s welterweight division in the International Kickboxing Federation US National Amateur Tournament.

As a pro, Holly Holm won world titles in boxing and MMA. In 2005 and 2006, the renowned magazine The Ring conferred her the title ‘Fighter of the Year.’

She won several titles during her illustrious career in three different weight divisions—light middleweight, welterweight, light welterweight.

She also defended her belts a total of 18 times. She marked her arrival in the MMA by knocking out the then unbeaten and dominant Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 to become the UFC women’s bantamweight title.
