WWE started the official hypes for 2020 Backlash pay-per-view from this week’s Monday Night RAW. The potential main event of the night was confirmed after Edge accepted the challenge laid down by The Viper Randy Orton. Following the brutal Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36, these two are now to set to battle in a pure wrestling match.

 

While WWE will be using this match for Backlash promotional purposes, it is evident that there will be plenty of big matches for the June pay-per-view show that is yet to be confirmed. Going by the current storylines, these matches can be considered to happen at the second PPV event after WrestleMania 36.

The New Day (c) vs. The Forgotten Sons – SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

 

The New Day successfully defended the SmackDown Tag Team Championships in a Fatal-4-Way match against John Morrison & The Miz, The Forgotten Sons, and Lucha House Party at Money In The Bank 2020 PPV. While New Day may have toppled other teams with ease, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions are yet to defeat The Forgotten Sons. It means the new arrivals are surely be looking for a one-on-one opportunity for the belts.

 

Two weeks ago on SmackDown, The Forgotten Sons picked up a win over the champs in a non-Title match where Wesley Blake pinned Kofi Kingston to secure the victory. They have sent a warning to the tag team division, last week throwing a vignette and it’s evident that WWE is keeping them ready for the next title match at Backlash.
