Indian amateur turned professional Vijender Singh defeated Kerry Hope of Australia in the Asia Pacific Championship match in New Delhi.
Vijender defeated the Hope in a 10 round bout. This was his first match in India, he started his professional career in England. This year he didn’t bid for his Olympic qualification as he turned pro now.
Celebrities like former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh were present at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex along with boxer Mary Com, politician Rahul Gandhi, IPL chairperson Rajiv Shukla and actress Neha Dhupia.
