Twitter Reacts as Floyd Mayweather Beats Conor McGregor Via TKO to Win Fight of the Century
The odds were firmly stacked up against Conor McGregor and although he defied them for the first few rounds, Floyd Mayweather eventually showed the world why he was considered the face of boxing for more than a decade. The boxing legend toyed with the Irishman in the later rounds of the much-awaited fight to seal his legacy as one of the finest of all time.
In the decisive 10th round of the fight, Mayweather, who entered the bout with a stunning 49-0 record, backed McGregor onto the ropes with a series of rights and lefts, leaving the MMA fighter with a bloodied mouth before the referee stepped in to stop the fight with 1:55 remaining in the round.
The win extended Mayweather’s record to 50-0, allowing the American fighter to cap off his illustrious career in thrilling fashion.
McGregor began the fight in a dominating manner, taking his opponent by surprise with his aggressive display to win the first three rounds. However, Mayweather soon found his composure and won the next five rounds before winning the 10th to claim the fight.
