Uruguayan striker Sebastian Abreu has just signed for the 25th club in his career, which helped him equal the world record alongside German goalkeeper Lutz Pfannenstiel.
The 40-year old had begun his senior career with Defensor back in 1995 and have since moved across 25 clubs over the past two decades. His move from Central Espanol to Deportes Puerto Montt means he joined a new club for the 25th time in his career.
It is also his third club in 2017 and his moves between the clubs over the years earned him the nickname ‘El Loco‘ (meaning The Crazy One). The former Uruguayan international striker was presented to the media as a Deportes Puerto Montt player earlier this week. He will now start playing at Regional de Chinquihue in the second division of Chilean football.
Abreu has not only managed 25 clubs in his career but the clubs are based in 10 different countries. In 2017 itself he managed to play for three clubs in three different countries.
Bangu (Brazil) , Central Espanol (Argentina) and now Deportes Puerto Montt in Chile are the clubs he has managed so far this year. Despite moving so often between clubs, Abreu had also won some silverware with various clubs he played for.
He won the league titles with San Lorenzo, Nacional, River Plate, Botafogo and Santa Tecla. On the international level, he managed to win the coveted Copa America trophy with the national team earlier.

The 40-year old also had some delightful moments with the national team but his most cherished moment came in 2010 World Cup.
Abreu had scored the decisive penalty in their game against Ghana in the quarterfinals in the penalty shootout. However, the match was more famous for Luis Suarez’s hand ball which dented Ghana’s chance to qualify for the semifinals in that edition.
