Roger Federer sets up Semi-final clash with his countrymen Stanislas Wawrinka after his straight sets victory over Richard Gasquet.
Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka booked their place in the semi-finals after defeating their opponents in straight sets.
Earlier in the day, Wawrinka defeated the South African Kevin Anderson in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-0. After staying competitive in the first two sets, Anderson couldn’t push in the third set and was bagel-led in the third. Both the players failed to maintain a good first serve percentage, but Anderson edged out Wawrinka in the service department as he served 12 aces while Wawrinka managed just 6.
The Swiss managed to convert 5 of his 8 breakpoints while the South African failed to break Wawrinka’s serve at least once. Unforced errors were constantly coming from the South African which was the main root cause for his defeat.
