PT Usha is planning to send her best student Tintu Luka to Europe in the next year, for the preparation of Rio Olympics in 2016. Usha, speaking to the media on Wednesday at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex ground said, “No one is there in India at the moment to compete with Tintu. For the last couple of years, I have been noticing that in India, Tintu always runs at least 50 meters ahead of her competitors. But when you run in the international tournaments the difference will hell and heaven. So to gain more toughness and maturity you must need to take part in the international championships. I have tried to send her also in the last couple of years, but I failed due to lack of sponsors. But in the next year, I must do it. Tintu must have to take part in at least 10 European championships to gain experience, competitiveness and maturity before she takes part in the Rio Olympics.”
Tintu Luka earned qualification for the Rio Olympics in the recently held World Championships with a better timing in the 800 meters but was crashed out of the tournament in the qualifying stage. The ‘golden girl’ in Indian athletics who has come to Kolkata after a gap of four years, said that she would like to accept proposals of making film on her life only if Tintu gets success in any forthcoming international championships. Usha said, “I have also got proposals from several people related to film industry. They have informed me they want to make a biopic as two have already been done on Milkha Singh and Mary Com. But I have told them I would accept proposal and initiate for the filming of my biopic only if Tintu gets success in any forthcoming international tournaments in near future.”
