World Number 10, P Kashyap said that he wants to be at the top of his game in the World Championships starting from August. He wants to train hard and be on top of his fitness, seven weeks of hard training will help him to become more stronger.
P Kashyap shocked World Number 1 Chen Long in the quarter-finals of Indonesian Open but lost in the semi-finals to Kento Momtoa which he feels was due to lack of fitness.
Beating Chen Long gave me a lot of confidence. But against Kento Momota in the semi-finals I was leading the match and should have finished the match which I was lacking, he said.
In the second game, Kashyap had 10-6 lead but was unable to finish the match in his favor. In those kinds of areas a little bit more fitness is required. There is little difference between the top ten players in the world.
Kashyap said that a player needs to maintain a high level of fitness and that what I am looking forward in seven weeks of training before the World Championships. I need to be top most level of my game.
Kashyap said that he had always dreamt of becoming World Champion one day. The Indian shuttler who lost from winning positions in two events recently is working hard how to overcome errors.
Consistency is the key. The Indian shuttlers are doing well reaching the quarter finals and semi finals but need to win tournaments. I need to be at the peak of my physical fitness at World Championship.
The huge break that shuttlers are getting after the Indonesian Open would help them to refresh and prepare for World Championship, it is going to tough event but I feel confident of getting good results in the tournament.
The targets for Kashyap is Super Series events in particularly year ending Super Series events in December in Dubai gaining some valuable points and maintains or improve his rankings.
