Indian cricket Prithvi Shaw might find himself in deep trouble after a video surfaced of him in an altercation with a woman, who is apparently an influencer, providing a new twist in the ongoing selfie controversy involving him and his friends and a group of people.
Shaw and his friends had gone for dinner in a five-star hotel on Wednesday night and apparently were attacked by a group of people with baseball bats, where his and his friend’s car suffered damage due to being hit by baseball bats.
His friend has registered a case with the Oshiwara police and as per the complaint, Shaw was approached by Shobhit Rana and Sana aka Sapna Gill, an influencer, for selfies. Shaw obliged them with the same and got back to dinner with his friends.
Now as per a report in India Today, the altercation in the hotel happened, as Sapna and Shobhit returned with more requests for the cricketer and Shaw refused and said that he had come to eat food with his friends and that he did not want to be disturbed. Prithvi’s friend had to call the manager of the hotel for help when the group of people kept insisting.
The manager intervened and then removed the group from the hotel, but they waited outside for Shaw to come out. They had baseball bats with them and the front and rear windows of the car of Prithvi’s friend were smashed by the accused, according to the police complaint.
Shaw’s friend also complained that the group of people followed his car and blocked them near a petrol pump. According to the complaint, the group of people threatened to file false cases against Prithvi and his friends if they did not pay them Rs 50,000.

Sana, alias, Sapna Gill, one of the 8 people booked by the Oshiwara Police in Mumbai, alleged Prithvi Shaw was carrying a stick in hand when he and his friends assaulted the woman. Her lawyer Ali Kashif Khan said the police were not allowing her to go for medical tests and was at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai.
“Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical,” Ali Kashif said.
A video filmed by Ms. Gill’s friend showed her struggling with Mr. Shaw, who is clutching a broken baseball bat.
