Mumbai Indians (MI) faced defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last match by 7 wickets. While in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the MI side has now faced back-to-back defeats, with their first game loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Former South African star and MI’s head coach, Mark Boucher termed batting collapse the reason for their defeat against their arch-rivals CSK. While Rohit Sharma-led MI was able to post 157/8, where Ishan Kishan’s 32 runs were the highest score for the home side.

Mumbai Indian’s head coach is hopeful for Suryakumar Yadav’s comeback-
“We got up to a good start in the powerplay. We just had a batting collapse. I think a couple of unlucky dismissals, some good catches and after that we couldn’t really build any partnership, which probably cost us about 30-40 runs in the backend.
“It was pretty similar to the first game, just in different phases of the innings. I thought we fought well till the end with the ball. I just don’t think we had enough runs to put in any scoreboard pressure on CSK,” said Boucher.
While at one stage, MI was 64-1 in the 7th over of the game, but as their opener batter Kishan got out, soon the home side fell down like a stack of cards, in between all the chaos for MI, a brilliant catch by Ravindra Jadeja on his bowling to dismiss star all-rounder Cameron Green.

“Surya is an extremely talented cricketer and one of the world’s best T20 players if not the best. He hasn’t scored runs of late, but he is a fantastic player and hopefully, he can come to some good forms for us in the near future,” he further added.
While the No.1 T20I batter in the World, Yadav is struggling with form after getting dismissed on three consecutive ducks in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia. In the IPL 2023, with 15 and 1 runs in two games, played this season, he has continued his poor form in international cricket to IPL.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him. We all know what he can do, that’s just the game of cricket. Sometimes you go through the little patch where you struggle for form. We will back him and try setting him some new challenges to get the mind of his own game,” stated the Ex-South African cricketer.
Whereas in the chase, CSK lost their opener, Devon Conway, in the very first over, but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane then added over 80 runs, Rahane was the highest scorer of Men in Yellow with his 61 runs and Ruturaj remained unbeaten on 40 to chase down the target of 158 runs.
Now in IPL 2023 MS Dhoni-led side has won two matches in the three games it played this season, now for the 4th game CSK will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 12 at Chennai.
