WWE generally has its own vendetta against the other companies who are their so-called rivals in the professional wrestling circuit. But they are also open for business given the deal should produce some money. This could be the reason why they have reportedly entered a deal with Impact Wrestling promotion.
WWE shocked the fans on the latest bygone episode of SmackDown, when they announced that IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James will compete in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match. She was mentioned by Smackdown announcer Pat McAfee as the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion, a move that shocked everyone.

Ringside News reports that there are “no borders” anymore in that regard as the forbidden door has been shattered. This includes AEW, as well as WWE is in talks with the Tony Khan-owned brand, regarding upcoming projects.
WWE willing to knock down forbidden door with AEW?
According to Steve Carrier of the source, he was told by a tenured member of the team that “AEW is in discussions about projects with [John] Laurinaitis.” Big Johnny has spoken to Tony Khan about working with AEW on a future project. Laurinaitis and Khan have also been able to get on the same page, thus far.
“There’s a theory going that WWE is working with Impact Wrestling to get back at AEW. False.
We were told that “AEW is in discussions about projects with [John] Laurinaitis.”
WWE wants to use AEW talent for some upcoming documentaries they are doing. They’re playing nice,” mentioned the source.
The expectation is that If Tony Khan agrees to this deal, then it won’t be the first time that a wrestler under AEW would be appearing on WWE programming. No exact name regarding biography projects has been confirmed but Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Jim Ross, Cody Rhodes could be involved in the upcoming project since all of these names have been WWE superstars in the past.
In 2021, Chris Jericho appeared on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions on the WWE Network while being under contract with AEW. During that session, Jericho also openly discussed AEW during his interview with the WWE Legend. Then as noted above, Impact star Mickie James will also appear on WWE programming in the near future.
