Last night before RAW, WWE confirmed the status of this year’s WrestleMania with an official statement. It was confirmed that WrestleMania 36 will take place at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on April 5th that airs live on the WWE Network.
As much as this seems official that the show takes without an audience from the PC, there’s more backstory involved. It may not be the ultimate plan that WWE applies to the biggest event in sports entertainment.
Will Drew McIntyre Be Able To Win WWE Title At Wrestlemania 36?
According to Fight Oracle (this account has previously broken multiple WWE stories in the past, including Edge coming out of retirement), WWE announcing the Performance Center as the new WrestleMania 36 venue was only a part of their insurance claim process. It was just to remove the uncertainty around the show that was clouding for sometimes.
It was also reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon rushed the WrestleMania venue shift because he just wanted to ‘get everything out of the way’.
It’s uncertain at this point when things will get better. No one knows when things people will go back to normal life, and there’s a possibility that WWE can’t run shows amid live audiences for several months.

This is why we must have received the abrupt WrestleMania 36 announcement on this past Monday night whereas, in reality, Oracle reports there’s no chance that the show takes place at the PC. Reasons mentioned by the source are as follow, (source wwfoldschool.com)
>WrestleMania will NOT happen from the PC in Orlando. Why?
>WWE’s insurance policy says they have a duty to mitigate damages (in this case that means finding a new venue)
>WWE announced Performance Center as the new venue w/intent to satisfy that requirement
>the thought is the City of Orlando will shut down the WrestleMania event from the PC
>at this point, WWE will have shown they tried their best to move the event (mitigate damages) and they’d get paid by their insurer
>WWE will look to stage WrestleMania on June 7. MSG is targeted
*Meant WWE announced the PC as the new WrestleMania venue w/intent to satisfy that requirement of the insurance policy.
>Of course everything is fluid. Everything at this point is a rumor until Vince McMahon makes the call.
>it just doesn’t make sense to run WM from the PC. Just part of the insurance claim process
As you can see there’s still a chance that WWE might just want to shift WrestleMania to Madison Square Garden on June 7th when the next live event is scheduled from the world’s most famous arena. Additionally, Wrestling Observer Radio reported that WrestleMania may not get hosted on April 5, at all.
Edge Challenges Randy Orton In A Last Man Standing Match At WWE Wrestlemania 36
If anyone on the WWE roster is diagnosed with the coronavirus, or if the outbreak in Florida gets worse, then it’s possible that the ‘show of shows’ is pulled and re-organized at a later date, possibly at the MSG venue, as mentioned.
There’s also some uncertainty whether the full WrestleMania 36 match card will be put together at the Performance Center. WWE reportedly had 16 matches planned for the show, at one point.
It was noted on WOR that officials feel the empty arena matches aren’t working, based on null reactions they got during Friday’s SmackDown on FOX. This could be the reason only one match was placed on this week’s Raw.
