One of the most exciting news coming out of last week’s WWE programming is the heel-turn of Finn Balor. Over the past couple of months, we have seen a number of interesting character changes on the roster.
This one was perhaps the most shocking of them all as the former Universal Champion has finally become a villain to give a boost to his fallen career. Moving forward, this would hand him over major new opponents on NXT. Former Divas Champ Kaitlyn achieves big in Africa
Finn Balor joined the NXT roster upon return from personal time-off that he was granted for his wedding. He went back to the roots since WWE could not provide him a good option on the main roster.
Plus, he could be an asset for the Wednesday night war on behalf of the WWE, going up against AEW. But the blockbuster move of turning him into a heel came only this week as he delivered a vicious assault on Johnny Gargano.
Slice Wrestling has provided an update on Finn Balor and the future plans that WWE has with him. Triple H pulled the trigger hoping that this would be the much-needed move to save his character.
Also, he needed people talking about the NXT programming who is lagging behind in the race with All Elite Wrestling, each week. Here’s more from the source,
“Triple H is ecstatic with Finn Bálor’s heel turn idea and approved the character change the moment Bálor requested the storyline. Triple H is under immense pressure from Vince McMahon to beat AEW and Finn Bálor’s heel turn has definitely swayed the pendulum back for NXT.
Many viewers wondered if this meant Bálor joining The Undisputed Era and that is not currently the plan as Triple H wants Finn Bálor to shine on his own. The energy vacuum created by the heel turn would take away from Adam Cole’s current role as leader of The Undisputed Era.”
With that being said, a number of superstars will be waiting to take on Finn Balor during this NXT stint. The four front-runner names mentioned by SW are Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Velveteen Dream and Matt Riddle who is on Balor’s wishlist. Also, AJ Styles has already addressed his former Bullet Club member for making a potential alliance.
