We have witnessed a brutal beatdown on last week’s SmackDown at backstage that might cause character change for a certain superstar. Elias went through the vicious beat down on last Friday night at the hands of King Baron Corbin. The 2019 King of the Ring winner rag-dolled him throughout the backstage and thrashed a guitar on his back to lay him down for good.
Elias left that segment with an injury that would end up changing his character for a while. WWE provided reports that King Corbin broke Elias’ fingers during that vicious attack on the blue brand’s show. As per the released bulletin, he bruised his larynx as well as got hurt his voice, as well. Here’s an update from WWE.com,
“As first reported on WWE’s The Bump, Elias suffered a bruised larynx and broken middle and pinky fingers following the latest attack by King Corbin. The injuries have put Elias’ musical performances on hold, as they’ve hampered his ability to sing and play guitar.”
Why Samoa Joe Has Not Returned To Action On WWE Raw?

So for now, chances are pretty high that we may not see him delivering musical performances, for sometimes. Elias’ gimmick of playing his guitar and singing promos on his opponents might have to be on a halt for sometimes.
It wasn’t noted how severe those injuries have been, but it’s highly doubtful that Elias will be seen strumming his guitar on SmackDown, tonight or for the next several weeks.
WWE Confirms Role Of Debutant Bombshell Scarlett Bordeaux On NXT
We should note that this is a kayfabe injury by all means where Elias isn’t hurt, legit. He is just playing a character to be injured by his opponent who’d eventually be back to seek vengeance.
Meanwhile, this must be a welcoming change to the character of Elias who’s been trying to go to the next level in his career for quite sometimes. Bringing a seriousness to his on-screen role might finally take him to the championship picture, for good.
Using a super heel loke King Corbin to get him over as a big babyface character, seems a very good idea. These two can end up colliding in a singles contest at Money In The Bank.
